Updates:

Two weeks ago the cohorts #25 met at St. Theresa’s in Tuckerton.  The results of our findings were sent to the Diocesan Planning Commission and they agreed with our recommendation of model one –“Collaborative Parishes among St. Mary’s,  St. Barnabas, St. Pius X, St. Theresa and St. Francis.”  The recommendations made by the Diocesan Commission to enhance this “collaboration” centers on the following:

A) establish pastoral coordinators and/or assistants to support the pastors with the workload of large parishes.  Presently, that is already in place here at St. Barnabas.

B) Sharing resources and establishing joint leadership teams to deal with those key issues which are common to more than one parish, e.x. Pre-Cana, Adult Faith Formation, Youth ministry and Senior activities. Currently, St. Barnabas and St. Theresa had formed together a joint relationship in providing activities involving both parishes.

C) Enhance communication between and among cohort parishes.  The rational is instead of multi programs, lectures, etc. combining them into one event with greater participation.

D) Sharing ministries among the cohorts as feasible.  Again, our youth group is a good example of teaming up with St. Theresa in various activities.

E) Consider the best location(s) for a regular Hispanic Mass and Hispanic Ministry Center.

These are the recommendations, now they need to be discussed among the cohorts and then make further recommendations to the Diocesan Planning Committee.  As we continue the process, I will keep all of you informed as to the findings.  Your prayers are truly needed in helping us during this process.  Thank you.

Friends of the Poor Walk

FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK

Our St. Barnabas  St. Vincent de Paul Conference will be hosting the  2nd Annual Friends of the Poor Walk on Saturday, October 15, 2016.  Registration begins at 9 AM, and the walk starts at 9:30 AM at Veterans' Park in Bayville.

This walk will raise awareness of hunger in our local community.  Donations, through pledges, will provide money directly to the St. Barnabas SVdP Food Pantry.

There is no fee to participate in this walk.  The first 50 people who come to the walk will receive a free T-shirt. The walk is one kilometer long.  5 laps = 5K.   Remember, we need people to participate and bring awareness to local hunger  issues.  Just your presence at the event will support our walkers.

A bulletin insert on the weekend of October 1st and 2nd contains  a registration form.  Bring this form, and your pledges, on the day of the Walk.
