Be still and know that I am God.  Ps 46:10

The Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration in the Chapel from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Friday. On weekends adoration ends at 12:30pm.

All are Welcome to come and spend time with the Lord!

Jesus asked his disciples, "Will you not spend one hour with me?" We are always looking for prayerful people to sign up to spend one hour before the Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist which is exposed in our Chapel every day. The Eucharist, once exposed, must not be left alone, someone must always be present in prayer.  Come and spend time with the Lord.

The Most Powerful gesture you can give and receive.

Become an Adorer of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
One Holy Hour, You and Jesus..Simple.."THE HOUR of POWER"!

Stop by at any time to say a prayer, or perhaps make a commitment of prayer in your life by volunteering to be an Adorer and spend one hour each week...

***Winter is a particularly challenging time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel, not only due to weather, but also because many of our Adorers are snowbirds. It is a time when we heavily depend on substitutes to cover open hours. Please consider being one of our substitutes, even if it is for a short time. All efforts are greatly appreciated. Eucharist Adoration at St. Barnabas takes place in the Chapel Mon-Fri 7am-7pm & Sat.-Sun. 7am-Noon.

If you would like to the Honor of being an Adorer for one of the open hours listed below, or to be added to our Substitute List, call 732-269-2208 X313 and leave a message.

Holy Hours presently in need of an Adorer are:

Wednesday: Noon to 1pm
Friday:  Noon to 1pm & 5pm to 6pm

Sunday: 9am to 10am

Volunteers assume the responsibility to see that the church and grounds are maintained in an attractive and welcoming manner that increases the atmosphere of worship. Special Feasts, such as the major Holydays of Christmas and Easter, require special decorations and extra people are always needed at these times.

The Children’s Liturgy Committee plans and organizes the children’s Mass. The Children perform the function of Lectors, reading the scriptures that are assigned for the day and lead in the prayers of the faithful. They also bring the offerings to the altar at the appropriate time. This Mass is celebrated on the 4th Sunday of the month at 10:30 AM from October to April.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion also called Eucharistic ministers, assist the priest to prepare and serve the Eucharist--Holy Communion--at weekend and daily Masses.  Additionally, they may be asked to bring Communion to the homebound. Eucharistic Ministers are approved by the staff and mandated by the Bishop to serve in our parish. Attendance at training sessions is required and ministers agree to serve at the Masses scheduled.

Lectors assist at Mass by reading the scheduled Mass Scriptures, the prayers of the faithful, and any announcements that are needed. Since the Word of God should be proclaimed with clarity and meaning, lectors are chosen who have good diction, are willing to spend time preparing the readings, and are prompt and committed to their assignments. They meet as needed.

This committee assists the Pastor and staff members with liturgy preparation according to Church and Diocesan guidelines, parish traditions, and personal experiences. With the help of the Pastor and staff we gain a knowledge of and conform to the church and liturgical documents which have been mandated by Vatican II. They also evaluate the liturgies and the appearance of the worship space. They meet 3-4 times per year.

The purpose of ushering in church is to see that an atmosphere of reverence and order is maintained before, during, and after the Masses. The responsibilities of an usher include greeting people as they arrive for the service, handing out bulletins, assisting people with special needs, to aid latecomers in finding a seat, and receiving the offering of the faithful. They are also available to answer visitors’ questions and in case of an emergency, the ushers will help in getting people to safety in an orderly manner. Volunteers are welcome.
